Reinardt Janse van Rensburg is a South African professional road cyclist, born on 3 February 1989 in Virginia, in the Free State province of South Africa. Over a career spanning more than a decade and a half, he has established himself as one of South Africa’s most experienced riders at the highest levels of the sport.
Janse van Rensburg turned professional in 2010, first riding for MTN–Energade from 2010 to 2012, the outfit that would later evolve into the trailblazing African WorldTour team known for opening doors for African riders on the world stage. He then joined Argos–Shimano (also raced under the name Giant–Shimano) for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, gaining experience in a strong European WorldTour environment, before rejoining his South African team, by then racing as Team Qhubeka, from 2015 through 2021. In 2022, he moved to the Belgian WorldTour outfit Lotto–Soudal, capping a career that included two stints at the very top tier of professional cycling.

Among the highlights of his palmarès, Janse van Rensburg won the general classification at the Tour de Langkawi and took victory at Binche–Chimay–Binche (also known as the Mémorial Frank Vandenbroucke). He is a two-time winner of the South African National Road Race Championships in 2017 and 2022, as well as South African Time Trial Champion in 2012 and South African Criterium Champion in 2023. underlining his standing as one of the country’s premier road racers over an extended period. Across his career he has amassed multiple UCI race victories. He also represented South Africa on cycling’s grandest stage, being named to the start lists for 6 editions of the Tour de France — a rare achievement for a South African rider.

After Reinardt was diagnosed with Axial Spondyloarthritis in 2023, he has continued competing at the Continental level. He has ridden for the Denver Disruptors in 2023 in the United States, China Glory in 2024 and recently for South Africa’s Tshenolo Pro Cycling Team in 2025 in 2026 and continued performing well despite setback from the disease. He won the Tour of Benin in 2025, placed 2nd in African Championships Time Trail and won the local Mzansi series competition in the same year. In 2026 he continued with race wins and podium places in international events in Algeria and Greece.

Reinardt is presently off the bike, with a bulging disc causing Sciatic pain, but his journey continues whilst he manages the complications with living with AxSpa.
